Cherries exports from Chile in 2024
Chilean cherry exports hit a record high in January 2024, with earnings of US$1.555 billion, marking a 27.5% increase from the previous year. This growth is attributed to a rise in the volume of cherries exported and an improvement in international prices.
The Chinese market received a significant 93% of these exports, equivalent to US$1.447 billion. This represents a positive variation of 30.8% compared to January 2023. The export period coincides with the Chinese New Year. It is a period when cherries are in high demand as gifts symbolizing good luck. Over the past two decades, Chilean cherry exports have shown remarkable growth, rising from US$36 million to US$2 billion in 2023, a more than 5,000% increase. This success has positioned Chile as the leading global supplier of cherries.
